What is a medical tent for events?

A medical tent for events is a quick-to-erect tent with clear markings – a cross, lettering and colour – that identifies the first aid point at a race, a fete, a concert or a competition. It gives first aiders and casualties shade, shelter from rain and space for a treatment couch. The same tent also serves health campaigns, screening sessions and blood drives.

At a glance

  • Visibility: a cross and lettering on the roof and every wall, in full colour – easy to find in a crowd.
  • No power needed: the sealed-air version stands for about 7 days on a single inflation, no generator.
  • Set-up: 1-2 people, around 15 minutes, no frame.
  • Space: 4 × 4 m (3 m high) takes a couch and two staff, 5 × 5 m and 6 × 6 m add a waiting area.
  • Walls: solid or with a door and a window, added as needed – privacy for the patient.

Where a first aid tent earns its place

Races and sports events

A medical point at the finish and on the course. The tent with a cross stands next to the finish arch, and the first aider has a couch and water under cover.

Fetes and large events

A clearly marked first aid point by the stage or the entrance, where it is easy to send a lost child or someone suffering from heat exhaustion.

Health campaigns

Blood pressure checks, screening, a vaccination point or health education outdoors – with the logo of your clinic, hospital or charity.

Blood drives and donor registration

A tent next to the donation vehicle for registration, health questionnaires and rest after giving blood.

Which first aid tent should you choose for an event?

On the course and in the open – sealed-air. A medical point at mile 10 of a race rarely has access to power. A sealed-air tent is inflated once and stands until the end of the event with no generator. The 4 × 4 m size fits in a car boot, so it gets where a van cannot.

By the stage and in the organiser's area – fan-inflated. A fan-inflated tent with a 230 V blower recovers its shape after a gust and can be lit with LEDs. It suits concerts that run into the night, when the point must be visible after dark. Note that 4 × 4 m is the outer size; the interior measures 2.6 × 2.6 m.

Several stations in a row – pop-up. A pop-up tent 3 × 3 or 3 × 4.5 m on an aluminium frame is a practical choice for a health campaign with several screening stations side by side.

How to mark the point from afar. On a large site, a flag at the tent entrance or an advertising balloon with a cross, visible from several hundred metres, makes all the difference.

Event medical tent vs emergency services tent

The words "rescue tent" cover two very different products. Specialist rescue and casualty tents for the emergency services have heating, a floor, lighting and fittings for round-the-clock work, including major incidents and winter operations. They are bought to the services' own specifications.

Our medical tent is a point for an event: light, clearly marked and up in around 15 minutes. It provides shade, shelter from rain and space for the kit the first aiders bring with them. Medical equipment, staff qualifications and the event medical plan are the responsibility of the medical provider or the organiser. Fire stations that support community events have a page of their own: fire brigade tents.

Markings: cross, lettering, colour

A first aid point has to be found within seconds. A simple layout works best: a light background, a large symbol on the roof, "First Aid" or "Medical" lettering on every wall and the organiser's logo in smaller type. The print covers the whole skin, legs included, so the point is visible from every side.

If you want to use the red cross or red crescent emblem, check the rules on its use first – the symbol is protected by law. A safer option is a different first aid symbol, such as a white cross on a green background, or lettering alone. We prepare the visualisation free of charge and revise it until you are happy. Questions and answers

First aid points – questions and answers

Which medical tent works for a race or a fete?

Most often a 4 × 4 m sealed-air tent, because it stands without power and takes a couch with two staff. For a bigger event a 5 × 5 m tent with a waiting area is better. By a stage with power, a fan-inflated tent with lighting works well.

Can a medical tent have closable walls?

Yes. Solid walls, walls with a door or with a window are added as needed, so the patient is shielded from the crowd. The walls carry the same print as the roof.

Is this an emergency tent for major incidents?

No. Our tents have no heating and no fittings for round-the-clock work at major incidents. They are clearly marked points for first aid, health campaigns and registration at events.

Can we put a red cross on a first aid tent?

The red cross emblem is protected by law and not everyone may use it. Before ordering, check whether your organisation is entitled to it. Alternatives are a white cross on a green background or simply the words "First Aid".

How long does it take to set up a first aid point?

Around 15 minutes and 1-2 people. The tent is unfolded, inflated and secured with guy lines and anchors, or with water or sand weights on tarmac. There is no frame to assemble.

How quickly will I get a medical tent?

Production takes 10 working days from artwork approval, even for a single tent. We send a quote with a visualisation within 24 hours, and delivery is by courier to your country, with the cost included in the quote.
