Construction and applications
The sealed air advertising bauble, 2 m in diameter, is a sphere with a double skin: an inner 200 g/m² polyurethane fabric that holds the air and an outer polyester fabric with PVC coating, 300 g/m², which carries the print. The sphere is inflated with a pump and needs no permanently connected blower.
Sealed air is used where continuous power for a blower is not available: in shopping centres, on stages, in shop windows, above exhibition stands and in seasonal decorations.
Material and skin construction
The outer PVC-coated polyester skin, 300 g/m², takes the tension loads and any contact with the ground, while the 200 g/m² polyurethane layer keeps the unit airtight. Splitting these two functions between two layers allows the surface to be tensioned without distorting the shape of the sphere.
The sphere is sewn from gores, which gives a regular spherical outline and allows the graphics to be laid out around the full circumference.
Inflation, suspension and lighting
Inflation is done with a hand pump or an electric pump from the optional equipment list. The electric pump speeds up installation when several baubles form one display, while the hand version works independently of a socket.
Hanging fittings are mounted in the outer skin, so the bauble can hang on its own or in a cluster. LED lighting placed inside the sphere works as a decorative element after dark.
How do the print and the graphics work?
Graphics are applied by UV printing, with print available on every gore and 100% surface coverage. The sphere can therefore carry a single pattern across the whole surface or a different motif on each gore.
